Campbell River Rugby has been part of Campbell River since the late 1970’s when a few teachers and students from Carihi and Southgate school formed a team to join the newly formed North Vancouver Island Rugby Union (NVIRU). Like any other organization over the years, we have had to adapt to changing economic and demographic conditions. During the prosperous years we ran a clubhouse, 2 senior men's rugby teams, a senior women's team, a junior team, touch rugby, a bus and supported slo-pitch, basketball, volleyball and the local schools with equipment and coaching. In the late 90’s we started our Mini/Junior Rugby program and we continue to this day to provide a fun safe sport for ages under 7 to under 12 as well as junior ages from 13 to 19.
As the number of participants grows, we need to replenish our equipment and the costs continue to rise. We feel there is a great opportunity to align ourselves with supporters as we try to keep the cost of participation to the bare minimum. Keeping this sport affordable to as many families as possible is a major priority to our club. We would like to see as many kids participate in the sport of rugby, where they will develop skills of teamwork, stay physically fit, create lifelong friendships and have FUN. We rely on support from memberships, alumni and businesses to keep the joy of rugby in the community, and without it the programs will not survive. For your support we offer branding on our team gear and website. Our hope is that you will sponsor our club, as we are aligned with values of community, youth, family and fun.
